The perinatal timeframe for a woman encompasses conception to baby’s first birthday. During this time, a woman may experience depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, panic attacks and postpartum psychosis. These are just some of the symptoms that cover Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders (PMAD).
Statistics have proven that between 40-50% of women of African-American or Latina/Spanish-Speaking women will experience a PMAD. Of those women very few will be properly screened and provided appropriate resources for recovery. For this reason, it is imperative that licensed clinicians are professionally trained to properly diagnose those symptoms of PMADs.
This practice specializes in working with parents on attachment concerns with their infant, infant loss, grief and loss from miscarriage and abortion, stressors of being a new parent, trauma history, couples counseling as well as mood and anxiety disorders related to pregnancy and post-partum.
